Research Highlights

  1. Designing an offloading technique to handle mobility-aware end devices and communication range-limited fog nodes, achieving significant improvements in minimizing migration latency and overall network usage.
  2. We proposed a migration assistance model named OptFog for fog-assisted networks that uses machine learning models to predict mobile device locations and make proactive migration decisions.
  3. We evaluated three machine learning models — Decision Tree, Random Forest and k-NN — for this purpose.
  4. We conducted a comparative analysis of OptFog and existing schemes in terms of the number of handoffs, number of migrations, overall network usage and migration latency.
